5 MEPs –  Amelia Andersdotter (Greens/EFA), Corina Creţu (S&D), Ashley Fox (ECR), Gesine Meissner (ALDE) and Andrey Kovatchev (EPP) –  joined Jennifer Baker to discuss their priorities for the European Parliament elections, at the debate “How will the new European Parliament make a difference?” jointly organised by viEUws, EU40 & Apco Forum.

The MEPs identified the following priorities:

  • “Most important is to reduce disparities between rich & poor, between different regions and countries, says Corina Creţu (S&D)
  • “The main priority is to make sure that European solidarity is used for guaranteeing competitiveness of our continent, stresses Andrey Kovatchev (EPP)
  • “First of all – stability in finances and economy, empowering SMEs in order to offer new jobs, claims Gesine Meissner (ALDE)
  • “If we want to retain confidence of people in Europe we need to start creating jobs by completing the single market and investing in research and innovation, underlines Ashley Fox (ECR)
  • Copyright reform - freedom shall be ours, asserts Amelia Andersdotter (Greens/EFA)
