2015 is a special year for development. It is the first ever European Year to deal with the European Union's external action and Europe’s role in the world. For development organizations all over Europe it is an unparalleled opportunity to showcase Europe's commitment to eradicating poverty worldwide and to inspire more Europeans to get engaged and involved in development. 2015 is also the year in which the Millennium Development Goals that the world agreed to reach in 2000, and in which the international community will agree on the future global framework for poverty eradication and sustainable development.

The number of people living in extreme poverty has been reduced by more than a half since 1990. 9 of the 10 children in the developing country have access to education. The European Union and its member states significantly contributed to these achievements. But our work with joining forces is not done yet. Mortality rates are still unacceptable. Climate change, migration, radicalism and challenge of future are also problems that we can change.

Let's act together! Each one of us can play a role for more peaceful and understandable world!

Our world, our dignity, our future!

Get involved! #EYD2015
