Making payment by card is nothing out by the ordinary in Europe.

Excluding cash, cards are the preferred method of payment in the European Union followed a long way off by credit transfers, direct debits, cheques and finally e-money and other payments instruments.

The European Parliament has decided to fight against the excess of additional cost.

For each card transactions retails have to pay interchange fees between banks. They add this cost to the price of goods or services they offer. The rates have varied greatly between countries.
