Originally from Bulgaria, Jivko
Jeliazkov is a final year LLB Scots and English Law Student at the University
of Dundee, Scotland. His focus is on international politics, energy, law,
especially European law, as well as citizenship education.
Jivko has a substantial interest in NGOs and youth
activities both in Scotland and back home in Bulgaria. He has participated in a
number of political simulations, such as Model European Union, Model NATO and
Model United Nations, as well as a number of youth exchanges. Jivko is
currently the project coordinator of Discover2Inspire: Youth for Sustainable
Living, which is scheduled to take place in Dundee in April 2014.
About his motivation for working on the project, he says:
As T.E. Lawrance says, "All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible." I believe that young people have great capacity to influence decision makers both at national and European levels, however they must first understand how to utilize the tools available to them.
