The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) is organizing two new courses on emerging threats towards states and citizens with the aim of promoting an in-depth knowledge of specific issues such as cyber crimes and crimes against the environment. The courses are tailored to journalists and chief information officers, as well as those who want to specialize in this area, offering a unique opportunity to network with renowned international experts.

In particular the specialized courses offered by UNICRI at the United Nations Campus in Turin will focus on:

Investigating Crimes against the Environment: 30, 31 March 2015 (course information )

  • Environmental protection and sustainable development

Cyber Threats Masterclass: 9, 10, 11 April 2015 (course information )

  • Cyber warfare, terrorism and terrorist use of the Internet
  • Hackers profiling
  • Cyber stalking and hate speech
  • Investigating and reporting on cyber crime
  • Understanding and communicating cyber-threats and facts
  • Verifying reliability of sources
  • Analyzing civil liberties versus national security interest to counter cyber threats
  • Securing journalists, protecting sources and media infrastructures

The lecturers are experienced international journalists, experts from national and international academic and research institutions, as well as practitioners from international organizations dealing with cyber crimes, environmental issues, internet and green governance. 

Upon completion of the course UNICRI grants a Certificate of Participation.
