'After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.' ― Philip Pullman

Throughout centuries and across the world, people of all ages have continuously been enchanted by the power of storytelling. Stories can make us feel great emotion, make us laugh, cry, feel afraid, feel happy. Stories inspire us, and also raise important questions about the human condition. Stories enable us to encounter new characters, explore faraway lands and even travel in time.

Now, imagine if you had the chance to tell your own story and transcend both language and cultural boundaries to reach an audience of over a billion people on the other side of the world. What would your story be?

Imagine no more!

The Delegation of the European Union to China in association with the Bookworm, a literary organisation in China, and all 28 EU Member State embassies in Beijing, are organising an exciting flash fiction competition, Flash Europa 28, which will publish short stories written by young people from all over the European Union for Chinese readers.

So if you are 28 years old or younger, creative, would love for your story to be not only published, but also read by an audience of over one billion people, then this is your golden opportunity!

All you need to do is submit one story of 500 words or less set in the EU country of your nationality or residence.

Please see http://www.flash-europa-28.org for more information.
