The Citizens Pact is an initiative organised by European Alternatives, which brings together a coalition of citizens and organizations joining in to advocate for concrete demands on the Europe they want to live in.

The Citizens Pact builds the debate an Europe, gives a voice to the European citizens and ultimately tackles the infamous democratic deficit. The campaign empowers all of us to take action and to participate in the development of a European political sphere.

It has been going on for 2 years, starting from 6 countries, and growing year-on-year. The campaign in 2013 is particularly important as European Alternatives aim to bring the findings and proposals to the European decision-makers in the run-up to the European Parliament elections, and ultimately to make sure the elections and policies are truly transeuropean, rather than a sum of national logics.

The Citizens Pact also aims to increase awareness of the rights and opportunities which the EU grants to its citizens, but equally what it is lacking, and how this can be addressed, what could be done in a better way, how could the citizens be more involved, and what participatory structures could be implemented.

European Alternatives and their partners will host a series of events to bring citizens together, debate and voice their opinions and create a Citizens Manifesto.
