Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the EU
The EU wants to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

For this reason an important plan named Europe 2020 has been approved, which aim is to develop new growth throug sustainable and smart jobs.

Specifically Europe 2020 aims to apply the following plan of action: 

1. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% compared to 1990 

2. Increase energy efficiency by 20% 

3. Increase the share of renewable energy sources in final energy consumption to 20% 

On greenhouse gas emissions, there are some variations across the member states, which can be accounted for by their very different industrial profiles and economic trajectories.
