YouGov, an international internet-based market research firm based in the UK, recently conducted a survey across seven European countries, which shows that there is public support for tripling funding for search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean. However, many Europeans are still concerned that search and rescue operations will encourage more immigrants to try their luck in the Mediterranean sea.
According to the results of the survey, Norwegians, Germans and Swedes are the most supportive of funding for search and rescue operations out of the countries where the survey was conducted. Britain and Denmark tend to favour the plan as well. On the other hand, people in France and Finland are less likely to support the search and rescue operations.
