Moldovan drinkers consumed 25.4 litres of pure alcohol in 2010, followed by Poland with 24.2 litres, while Portugal came third with 22.6 litres.
Iceland, Italy and Norway were at the lower end of the scale and respectively consumed 10.4, 9.9 and 9.0 litres per capita.
A possible reason of this difference could be explained by the fact that in some countries people drink more spirits, while in others beer is more consumed.
